Like a strong, blustery March wind, we've been whirling around London town this month with our reporting on sustainable fashion.
How is the barometer for innovative, luxurious and sustainable fashion right now?
Materials Research Exchange 2026
We attended the flagship event for advanced materials research and innovation. It brings together the community of researchers and innovators and provides an excellent opportunity for manufacturers and end users to gain understanding of what the UK can offer in terms of advancements in materials research and innovation in one place.
The Mills Fabrica - we think they are always one to watch for re-imagining materials for the future of fashion as is Lenzing AG whose certified 100% TENCELâ„¢ lyocell fibers we licence for our customers.
At this smaller show, the latest collections from leading British suppliers of fabrics and accessories were on display. All of them offer low minimum orders - exactly where our suppliers are found!
Attending from Wales were National Weaving who make our 100% recycled, strong woven labels. Together, we designed our labels to be non-irritating to skin and to stay put. All that's needed is just one label to communicate our origin with product care information on the reverse.Â
What's the point of two labels? All too often these are made of virgin plastic, use toxic printing, only to be cut off and chucked in the bin! Ours, however is locally woven and actually made of waste.
Sustainable Fashion Week (SFW)
Collaborating with SFW, we organised our own small show at Coventry University - an amazing British institution that has its origins in the Coventry School of Design established in 1843.
Having taken part in the backstage fashion show last year, Mozzie Cozzie's Team decided to pivot from 'show and tells' towards 'quick flicks'. We got to showcase the premiere of SFW Movie to help inform our younger generation on how to better understand the benefits of owning fewer, better-quality items.Â
